Here are some of the highlights of Paul's trip to Memphis
where he was a presenter for the 22nd annual WC Handy Awards. The
event took place at the Orpheum Theatre.

Paul's trip to the Handy's all started by correspondence with Daren,
Howard Stovall, and Sid Selvidge.
Taj
Mahal greeted Paul with his own version of throatsinging...his voice
is pretty close to khoomei naturally.
Susan Tadeschi, Paul and Sir Mack Rice in the Green Room at the
Orpheum.
Sir Mack Rice and Paul co-presented the Award for 'Blues Song of
the Year'. Years ago, Sir Mack wrote the song, 'Mustang Sally'.
After the show, Paul sings Kagyraa behind the theatre for Dr. John,
who was the MC for the whole event.
Dr. John told Paul he loved Genghis Blues and that he was 'duly
compressed'.
A little quiet time outside the hotel with 'Pinetop' Perkins, who
worte 'Pinetop's Boogie'....He also played keyboards with Muddy
Waters for many years.
Many years ago, Mississippi Fred MacDowell invited Paul to his home
in Como, MS for Xmas. Paul wasn't able to go. But, on his recent
trip to Memphis Paul finally got to visit Fred's home town, which
consists of a post office, a gas station, a couple of stores, and
a steakhouse. He later went out to a Jam session on Sherman Coopers
farm, where he played a few songs accompanied by RL Burnside's grandson
on drums.
